4 Days Rwanda Gorilla Safari

This 4 Day Rwanda tour takes you for an encounter with the endangered mountain gorillas featured by the breathtaking scenic views of the volcanoes and the rolling hills across the country. It is a short safari designed to start in Kigali with a short city tour where you will visit the Genocide Memorial Centre before proceeding to the renowned gorilla destination, Volcanoes National Park in Musanze.

  • Day 1: Arrival in Kigali and transfer to hotel
  • Day 2: Kigali Genocide Memorial and transfer to Musanze
  • Day 3: Gorilla trekking
  • Day 4: Optional golden monkey trekking and drive back to Kigali

Detailed Itinerary

Day 1: Arrival in Kigali and transfer to hotel

You will arrive at Kigali International Airport, meet your driver guide who will brief you about your safari and later transfer you to your hotel in Kigali. This is the start of your beautiful stay in Rwanda and you will spend the night in the calm, safe and beautiful Kigali city.

Dinner and overnight at the hotel.

Day 2: Kigali Genocide Memorial tour and transfer to Volcanoes National Park

After a leisurely breakfast at the hotel, you will get on the road to the Genocide memorial site where you will have an insightful tour and learn about the horrible 1994 Rwanda genocide. It is quite a sorrowful tour but worth your time to learn about how the country has gone through its healing, resilience and growth and developemnt after the war. From here, wind through the endless hills to Musanze. Dinner and overnight at your booked lodge.

Day 3: Gorilla trekking and visit to the Ellen DeGeneres Campus

Rise up to a sumptuous breakfast and hit the road to Volcanoes Park offices for gorilla trek briefing. After allocation of the specific gorilla family, you will be briefed and head to the strting point of the specific trail to look for these primates. It is an exciting experience walking through the Volcanoes Forest, and meeting the majestic mountain gorillas. You will have an hour with them, to watch them feeding, playing and roaming around the forest. Depending on the time the trek ends, you can drive via the Ellen Campus for a short tour and proceed to the logde for lunch, and later dinner and the overnight. 

Day 4: Optional golden monkey trekking and drive back to Kigali

As your 4 Days safari comes to the end, you can choose to have one more trek to see the golden monkeys in the same forest, but a different zone and trail. Monkey treks often end much earlier than gorilla treks, expectantly by 11am. Thereafter, you will embark on the road transfer to Kigali and be dropped off at the airport for your departure flight.
